Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What if I don’t know where to start?

Totally normal. You’re not alone. We recommend starting with one Deep step (like joining a group or reading the Bible) and one Wide step (like shadowing a serve team or attending a Day FOR GOOD). Or just talk to one of our Next Steps volunteers or one of our other leaders, it would be our pleasure to help you figure it out.

Do I have to take two steps?

No one’s forcing you, but we’re encouraging everyone to take at least two steps this year. Why? Because following Jesus involves movement. Two steps help you grow deeper in faith and wider in impact.

What if I already did one of these steps?

Great! Celebrate it. Then ask God what’s next. The goal is not to check boxes but to follow Jesus in an ongoing, meaningful way.

What’s the difference between Deep and Wide steps?
  • Deep steps help you grow in your relationship with Jesus.
  • Wide steps help you live out your faith in the world.

We need both. One forms your faith. The other expresses it.

What if I’m not ready for a “big step” like leading a group?

Don’t worry! There are plenty of smaller, intentional steps that can still help you grow. Serving, inviting someone to church, or even joining a reading plan are all valuable and faithful steps.

Can I talk to someone before deciding?

Absolutely. We’d love that. Click here to send us an email – we’ll get back to you to help you find your next step.

Are there options for youth or students?

Yes. Our student and kids ministry has its own pathway of Deep and Wide steps. Talk to our I-5, 252, Middle School, or High School Coordinators.
