APPLICATIONS
Applications for the Summer Experience are due prior to March 15th.
Applications for the Year-Long Internship are due prior to August 1st.
You've got questions? We've got answers!
A: You get a front-row seat to how the local church works and a customized roadmap for your own leadership development. We aren’t looking for “help”—we are looking to invest in you.
A: The Summer Experience (10 hours/week for 10 weeks) is an unpaid position during which you’ll rotate through three different ministry areas to discover where your unique “shape” (gifts, heart, and abilities) fits best. That’s invaluable! You won’t do this alone. You’ll be part of a cohort of peers and mentors who are all asking the same big questions about faith and future. You’ll learn sustainable habits that will protect you from burnout no matter what career you choose.
The Year-Long Internship (20 hours/week for 40 weeks) is a paid position for applicants who have a track record of successful volunteer ministry. You’ll move from “discovering” to “developing,” with support from a supervisor to sharpen your professional skills and a mentor to care for your soul. It’s like having a personal growth team for a year. Whether you stay in ministry or move into the marketplace, you’ll leave with the communication, collaboration, and leadership competencies organizations are looking for.
A: The Summer Experience runs from mid-May to mid- August to work with a typical college schedule.
Apply for the Summer Experience by March 15th; apply for the Year-long Internship by August 1st.
Summer internships may extend into a paid year-long position. Applications remain open throughout the year, so it’s never too early to apply!
A: When you complete your application, be as accurate as possible with the dates you can start and need to end by.
A: You’ll learn that ministry is about more than just what happens up front or on a stage —it’s about how to lead yourself and others with intentionality. Your learning will focus on three key areas: Ministry Competency (The How-To), Spiritual Formation (The Who You’re Becoming), and Leadership & Leading Up (For the Future of the Church).
Ministry Competency (The “How-To”)
You won’t just be watching; you’ll be doing. You bring your curiosity. We’ll provide the tools, schedule, and investment to take you to your next step.
Summer Experience Interns: You’ll gain a “backstage pass” to three different ministry areas, learning how a large church operates from the ground up.
Year-Long Interns: You’ll move from assisting staff to leading alongside staff. You will collaborate on project management, learn to lead yourself and others, and develop ministry within teams.
Spiritual Formation (The “Who You’re Becoming”)
We believe who you are becoming is more important than what you do. You will learn how to build spiritual disciplines and habits that sustain you for the long haul. This includes practical training in the following: learning to hear God’s voice in a noisy world, practicing resting in and partnering with God, and authentic connection to lead with relational awareness.
Leadership (For the Future of the Church)
One of the most valuable skills you will learn is how to collaborate. With “fresh eyes,” you’ll learn how to provide feedback to your supervisor, practicing the skill of communicating with grace and clarity. You’ll develop self-awareness through 1-on-1 coaching. You’ll learn how to have hard conversations, manage your time, and process inevitable tension with God’s help for health and humility.
