We are a ministry of Crossroads Church. 

We are not a replacement for medical detox, treatment or counseling, nor do we replace 12-step recovery in the life of someone impacted by substance use disorder.

We bring our love of Jesus and our experience, strength and hope to those desiring recovery from the disease of addiction.

Our Focus Areas Are:

Education: John 5:6: When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, He asked him, “Do you want to get well?”

*We are not bad people trying to be good, we are sick people wanting to get well.
*We don’t know what we don’t know.

 We are not professionals, but we know people who are. We will bring opportunities for our church family and the community to become more educated in the role substance abuse plays in all our lives.

We are available to help those struggling with substance abuse find treatment and recovery. We do not provide assistance ourselves but we can help with the process.
We are not a replacement for 12-step recovery, but we can walk with others through the process.

We do not provide professional treatment, but we can give guidance to those who ask for help.

We are not residential treatment/recovery but we do have knowledge of local treatment facilities, sober living homes, IOPs (intensive outpatient programs) and can help with connections.

We are aware of local meetings and can guide people seeking 12-step recovery.

We do not sponsor through this ministry, but we do understand the importance of sponsorship and can encourage people seeking recovery to work with a sponsor who meets their needs. We are not pastors, but we do play a role helping people in recovery grow in their faith and find their place in the church.

Sanctification: John 17:17: Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.

*Nothing changes if nothing changes.

Once a person is in recovery, or a family member is seeking help for himself/herself, we invite them into communities of people who are following Jesus and growing in their recovery and in their faith. The Holy Spirit is the One who sanctifies, but we provide the opportunities for growth. The process of recovery can be part of the process of sanctification, allowing the Holy Spirit to work through us, to change us, to better equip us for our place in God’s Kingdom. We do this by:

• Providing teaching that connects recovery with the Bible.
• Encouraging spiritual practices as part of a daily routine.
• Providing a safe place to confess and repent.
• Modeling what it looks like to become more like Jesus, which is at the heart of recovery.

12-step recovery is an excellent process for these changes. But since most 12-step meetings are not Christ focused, our Recovery INC meetings allow addicts and family members to be covered as part of the body of Christ and surrounded by believers in recovery as they move forward in healing.

The purpose of Recovery INC is to bridge the gap between recovery programs and church.  

We are not a replacement for outside meetings and will strongly encourage participants to join and remain active in their respective recovery groups.

We want to see people grow to be the men and women God created them to be and we know this is possible when we become God-dependent. We pray that as we work together, in our Carroll County community, we will continue to shatter the stigma of addiction and also to care for, nurture. disciple and love the brokenhearted people The Lord puts in our path.

At Recovery INC we have another purpose as well.  We want to help addicts and alcoholics, who name Jesus Christ as their Higher Power, to experience a deeper walk with God and to be fully integrated into the Body of Christ.  Our struggles with addiction, the dreadful freight from our varied pasts, and the lengths we have gone to in recovery qualify us to serve the Lord and His church with a raw honesty and vulnerability. These qualities are often in short supply in the modern church.  First, however, we must understand God’s amazing love and forgiveness.  Without knowing Our Father’s heart, many of us will be locked into the failures of our pasts and will never experience spiritual growth and healthy integration into Christian life. 

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. – Psalm 147:3
