Building Relationships and Applying the Scriptures
It’s wonderful to show up at church on Sunday mornings and be moved by a genuine and meaningful worship service. Good services are energizing, encouraging, thought provoking, and generally move us towards stronger relationship with our Lord and each other. Yet, a weekly worship service is merely the tip of the iceberg when it comes to growing in our faith and becoming genuine followers of Christ. What happens during the rest of the week after we get out home and face the everyday challenges of life? How do we apply the things we are learning and who will walk with us as we attempt to navigate these challenges.
LifeWalk is a ministry geared towards the young to seasoned adult who want to take their faith beyond just an intellectual understanding to one that is real and passionate.
LifeWalk Adult Biblical Education
Mission and Philosophy
Teaching people to grow in their faith and live passionately for Christ involves more than just getting together for a bible study. At LifeWalk we want to encourage new, old and indifferent believers to move their faith from their heads to their hearts. It’s a 24/7 proposition that begins through the building of relationships with other believers and then staying connected in order to encourage, affirm, and work out their salvation together.
The LifeWalk program is an Adult Biblical Education ministry that provides multiple forums for those who are up for the challenge to examine the scriptures and openly discuss what they mean and how they apply to our lives today. Going deeper with our faith involves taking relationships beyond the surface to discuss life issues with those who care about each other. Small groups that meet monthly and one-on-one discipleship are places where that can happen.
Goals
It’s our mission to generate an excitement and desire in all believers and those discovering the Christian faith, to examine the scriptures with the understanding that they are more then just words.
1. Teach believers that relationships with others are paramount, it’s how God wired us to journey through this life with Him.
2. Provoke interest and desire in people to study the scriptures…in essence helping them move their faith from their heads to their hearts.
3. Enrich peoples understanding of the scriptures through both knowledge and experience of the Jewish culture, history and geography. Connect them with how the writers of the bible saw it.
4. Teach and encourage people to apply the scriptures to their lives and life long walks with each.
5. Train and instill in other teachers that teaching is less about conveying knowledge and more about living out our faith before others. It’s an act of demonstrating what we believe!

Think about this…
Too often as followers of Christ we make the crucial mistake of believing that growing in Christ, growing in our faith is directly connected with how busy we keep ourselves in doing the work of the church. Such as how many nights out we spend at meetings, volunteering to help on the worship team, women’s ministry, men’s ministry, finance team, ushering, parking attendants, and so on. They’re all good, yet if done for the wrong reasons with an assumed outcome may only lead to one becoming burned-out and discouraged.
Here’s what we need to remember and is the most important thing that Jesus instructed us to do…
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
Mark 12:30

This Week in LifeWalk: Part II “Living and Holy Sacrifice” Romans 12
In Romans 1-11, Paul describes the free gift of God’s righteousness in Christ. Beginning with Chapter 12, Paul asks what our proper response should be in light of God’s mercy and grace. In other words, “How should we then live?”
He begins with a plea for us to present our bodies as living sacrifices and to be transformed (metamorphosos) by the renewing of our minds. Then we will be able to demonstrate in ourselves that the will of God is good, acceptable, and perfect. He then encourages us to fulfill our proper place in the Body of Christ with proper humility and zeal.
Finally, there are some admonitions which are to govern the Christian’s life and attitude towards love, good and evil, brothers and sisters in Christ, service to God, and our response to persecution.
Key verse: “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.”- Psalm 51:17
